Why I Went Natural!

Well I chopped my hair off! Of course, I didn’t have that much to begin with, but it’s still a major change! Before I get into why I chose to go natural, let me first start off with I’m not against relaxers. There seems to be this misconception that the best hair is natural hair and that not “embracing” your natural hair equates to conforming or not being happy with who you are. I’m completely against this false narrative, the best hair is healthy hair. Quite honestly if your hair defines who you are, you have some self-reflecting to do. Don’t allow people to make you feel ashamed about relaxing your hair and the same goes with having natural hair.

Now the reason I chose to go natural is because my hair was extremely unhealthy and quite damaged. Due to it being damaged, it was no longer strong enough to maintain routine relaxers. No, relaxers did not damage my hair, however tight weaves, too much heat, and just flat out not taking care of it caused the breakage and damage. As of now my main goal with going natural is to strengthen my hair and revitalize it. My plan is to stay natural, but sometimes plans change. Come along with me on this natural journey to healthy hair! I’ll definitely keep you all posted.
