Christmas Shopping Guide
Christmas is
right around the corner and I know it can get overwhelming trying to find the
perfect gifts for family and friends, while staying within your budget. Well
here are some things I do to make Christmas shopping a little easier.
How do I know what gift to
buy?
I usually just
ask my family and friends what they want for Christmas. I know some may think
this takes away the element of surprise, but I’d rather buy something they want
rather than waste money and time having to return something they dislike. And
if we could be honest, we all have received gifts that we didn’t like or gave
away.
Now with my
husband, Christmas shopping is completely different. I never ask him what he
wants because we are always together and I know what he likes and wants. I pay
close attention when we are at shopping centers or when he’s looking at things
online (stalk much..lol). I’m sure shopping for your spouse or significant
other can be difficult for some, my advice, pay attention and become inspector
gadget for a while!
How do I shop on a budget?
Price checking, price matching, online shopping, outlets & discount stores.
Every year my
husband and I agree on the amount we will spend on all Christmas gifts and we
don’t go over that amount. One thing I do is price checking. I search for
whatever gift I’m looking for and see who has it for the lowest price. The next
thing I do is price matching. Many times we see the item and immediately we buy
it without checking to see if someone else has it cheaper and if the store you
found it at will match the price. So be sure to check! Online shopping is also
a great way to stay within your holiday budget, I know some people don’t like
shopping online and are extra careful during the holidays due to the hackers
and scammers. Be sure the sites you are purchasing from are secure and if you
want to be extremely safe use PayPal, this is one method that I use to protect
myself when I’m shopping online. Shopping online can definitely save more money
than going in the stores. For example, JC Penney’s online coupons are always
better than in store. You may get 20% off in store, but 60% off online. Due to
technology taking over, many stores have invested money into the online
shopping experience. Take advantage of these deals. Last but not least we have
outlet malls, these malls have all the top brand retail stores with marked down
merchandise. And then there are discount stores like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc.,
you can find amazing gifts for affordable process at these places. They carry
designer brands and electronics. You’ll be surprised at some of the things you
can find. Don’t sleep on the discount stores!
I hope these
were some helpful tips to ease your Christmas shopping experience this year.
Let me know if you use them and if they were of some assistance to you! What
are some of your tips for Christmas shopping?
